50 Years of the CSDF to be Celebrated in Port Hope, and Cobourg, Ontario

March 9, 2017

The CSDF is celebrating our 50th Anniversary in 2017! We are proud to be holding this special Seminar in the Port Hope, and Cobourg, Ontario. Home to the first Seminar in 1967, where Tom Lawson set the foundation for what we have today.

The Seminar will be held from October 10th to 15th, 2017, with the 10th and 15th being travel days. The Theme for the 50th Anniversary will be Electoral Reform in Canada. This particular theme is important because it is being actively discussed by parliamentary committees in order to reform our “first past the post system” in time for the following Canadian Federal Election. As well, there are some particular residents of the Port Hope area who have long been advocates for this reform who are keen to see young debaters argue about the merits of this proposal.

We also will plan some sightseeing activities in the region including the well known Gananaska Valley area.

For more information and the official invitation, check out our Seminar Information page.
